A new harpsichord for the opera

You will have the chance to hear a new keyboard instrument for the first time at the premiere of Gaetano Donizetti's opera L'elisir d'amore on Friday 20 October 2017 at the Mahen Theatre.

The new harpsichord is from the workshop of the keyboard player Vít Bébar from Bílovice nad Svitavou, made for the National Theatre Brno according to the Italian school, in part based on the Grimaldi 1697 type.  It is made from maple wood with boxtree and ebony keys. The strings are made of brass, imported from Britain from the manufacturer Malcolm Rose. You will also be able to hear the beautiful sound of the harpsichord at the January performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni or at the new production of Così fan tutte, which will be premiered in May 2018.
