Brno plays host to the Arnold Schoenberg Choir

Grammy Award Winners

The biography of the Arnold Schoenberg Choir includes countless places where this first-class ensemble has performed – to name just two of them, the Salzburger Festspiele and the Wiener Festwochen, where the choir participated in a staging of From the House of the Dead under the baton of Pierre Boulez. This was voted best opera production of the year 2007 in German speaking countries. The choir has garnered numerous prizes for its recordings: the Classical Music Award, German Critics’ Award, Diapason d'or, Prix Caecilia, Grand Prize of the Academy Awards, Echo Klassik Preis. It also received a Grammy Award for its recording of J. S. Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
