Conductor Marek Ivanović and director Jiří Heřman's production of L'Amour de loin by the Finnish composer, Kaija Saariaho, has been nominated for a Divadelní noviny (Theatre News) award.

The opera had its Czech premiere in March this year to great acclaim from both audiences and critics. The composer even honoured the Janáček Theatre by attending one of the performances. The soloists Pavla Vykopalová, Lucie Hájková, Markéta Cukrová, Veronika Hajnová, Roman Hoza and Pavol Kubáň performed alongside the Janáček Opera NdB and members of the Masaryk University Choir. The stage design was by Tomáš Rusín and the costume design by Zuzana Štefunková-Rusínová. There will be further performances of L'Amour de loin by the National Theatre in the 2018/2019 season. Divadelní noviny will publicly announce the winners for the 2016/2017 season on Thursday 23 November 2017.
