New recording of Enjott Schneider symphonies

The orchestra and chorus of the National Theatre’s opera ensemble together with the soprano Julie Sophie Wagner and the German conductor Hansjörg Albrecht have recorded two symphonies by the contemporary German composer Enjott Schneider for the Wergo label from Schott Music publishers.

The recording of the composer’s 5th and 6th symphonies, known as the Black Forest Saga and The Rhine, was made at the Janáček Theatre in June. In addition to concert music, Enjott Schneider also writes film music – for example, the soundtrack for the legendary film Stalingrad. The orchestra of the NTB opera first encountered his music in July 2015, when it performed the symphonic poem Ein feste Burg in the Basilica of St Mauritius in Niederalteich as part of the 63rd European Weeks festival in Passau. Audiences will have a chance to hear Enjott Schneider’s Symphony no. 6 in Brno along with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 on 16 March 2018.
