Requiem for Man

Janáček Opera NdB and children from Brno’s excluded localities join forces in a unique project

Dedicated to those whom others robbed of life.

After the success of the Brundibar from the Ghetto project in  2015, November this year sees the return of the children and production team around the director Linda Keprtová to the Brno stage with the project Requiem for Man. Dedicated to those whom others robbed of life. Although the principal conductor of the Janáček Opera Marko Ivanović was the driving force behind the production, the children became the new artistic partner of the Janáček Opera NdB. The project once again works with children from excluded localities in Brno and aims to discover and reveal their talents, teach them to work and communicate in a team, inspire them and connect them with figures from the artistic world. Together with the soloists, choir and orchestra of the Janáček Opera, the children will again work on a unique production: a staged performance of W. A. Mozart’s Requiem, enriched by the verse of Bohuslav Reynek. It is all directed by Linda Keprtová with the musical collaboration of the soloists, choir and orchestra of the Janáček Opera NdB, headed by the principal conductor Marko Ivanović.  The project’s patron is the singer and multi-instrumentalist Iva Bittová. The original graphic design was created by Pavla Nešverová, who was nominated for the Czech Grand Design 2014 award.

The project is financially supported by the City of Brno and the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture.
