This evening at the Divadlo pod Palmovkou in Prague, the principal conductor of the Janáček Opera NTB, Marko Ivanović, accepted the 2017 Divadelní Noviny Award in the opera category, in recognition of both his work and that of the director and artistic director of the Janáček Opera, Jiří Heřman. The jury awarded them the prize for their production of Kaija Saariaho's L'Amour de loin, which received its Czech premiere at the Janáček Theatre in March 1917.

'Although the Divadelní Noviny Award for the production of  L'Amour de Loin is officially addressed to myself and Jiří Heřman, I see it as recognition for the entire ensemble of the Janáček Opera NTB and as confirmation from the expert public that, artistically and dramaturgically, our theatre is moving in the right direction and achieving the desired results. Thank you, congratulations to my colleagues, and I look forward to more operatic adventures,' said the principal conductor of the Janáček Opera NTB, Marko Ivanović, who was responsible for the music production. The latest collaboration between Jiří Heřman and Marko Ivanović is Charles Gounod's opera Faust, which will be premiered at Pavilion P of the Brno Exhibition Centre on 16 December 2017.
