Swan Lake

Robert Strajner after Marius Petipa

The immortal story that is synonymous with the word ballet. Swan Lake is one of the world’s most performed and famous ballets.

Swan Lake is our company’s flagship production and its popularity with audiences is directly proportional to the fame of Tchaikovsky’s title and the great response to our production. Without exaggeration, one of Central Europe’s most beautiful productions boasts not only the original choreography by Mario Petipa and Lev Ivanov, but also the creative input of Robert Strajner, who, with his many years of experience as ballet master at La Scala in Milan, has sensitively combined Russian and Western stylistic traditions in his ballet.

The new set design of this restored production is a work of an excellent English set designer, Peter Horne, who has also designed the set for The Nutcracker. Costumes are designed by Roman Šolc, who has been working alongside the Ballet NdB for more than 20 years now. He is one of the most wanted costume designers in the Czech dance world.
