I. V. Psota Ballet School

The I.V. Psota Ballet School at the National Theatre Brno offers classical ballet classes for children and adults.

I. V. Psota Ballet School has been around for more than 70 years! So far it helped many prominent dancers to build their strong relationship with dancing. Teaching is focused on ballet and dancing training, correct body posture, music and rhythm perception. Junior classes are for boys and girls over the age of 4. Adult classes are open for anyone over the age of 15 with no age limit! The lessons are once or twice a week in the afternoons in the professional studios of Ballet NdB. Childern enrolled in out ballet school have the opportunity to dance in our ballets, for example The Nutcracker or Sleeping Beauty.

Courses we offer for children:

  • Ballet games for the smallest children (4-6 years)
  • 1st till 5th year of classical ballet (6+ years)

Courses for adults:

  • Beginners (once or twice a week)
  • Intermediate (once or twice a week)
  • Advanced (twice a week)
  • TOP Advanced(twice a week)

Every applicant has to attend the entry assessment exams in order to enroll to Junior classes. These exams allow the teacher to assess the suitability for the course. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate their talent, flexibility and rhytm in front of the committee consisting of the Artistic Director of NdB Ballet Mário Radačovský, lecturers from Dance Conservatory in Brno and our tutors.

The school year begins on October 1, 2021, and ends on June 30, 2022. There are no courses for children during the school holidays. The ballet school will be closed completely from 23 December 2021 to 9 January 2022.

All those registered will receive instructions on the conduct of the exams by email during the week. The results will be announced within 3 working days.

The Talent exams will cover all ballet school courses for children. The admissions committee will also include representatives of dance conservatories, moreover, Mário Radačovský, the head of the NdB MgA ballet. Talent exams are mandatory for all. Course capacity is limited.

There will be no courses for children during the school holidays!

It is not possible to enter ballet school after the start of classes, ie. during the school year, as the condition for enrollment is the talent entrance exam. The children then prepare for the final dance concert throughout the year. The concert of the Ballet School will take place on 6 June 2021 at the Janáček Theater from 6 pm. At the concert, the graduates of the courses will receive a certificate.
