The Moon’s influence on human behavior

An unnamed bar in Brno where people meet their dates or meet accidentally. A community composed of guests who come at dusk and leave at dawn. And a barman who lends an ear to their sad or tragicomic stories while avoiding exposing the story of his. In several episodes we get to know men and women who talk about relationships to eventually make sense of themselves and their close ones. Situated in Central Europe, the heroes are characterized with a sort of gloominess of partially misspent lives. The atmosphere of the play and the dialogues resemble the short films by Jim Jarmusch (Coffee and Cigarettes, Night on the Earth) as well as those by Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation). Jaroslav Rudiš (*1972) writes both in Czech and German. As a novelist he debuted in 2002 with The Sky under Berlin. Together with the artist Jaromír 99, he published a graphic novel trilogy Alois Nebel (2003-2005), which was adapted into a succsessful film. Some of his later books, such as  Grandhotel and National Avenue, were also adapted into films. Rudiš’s dramas – mostly written together with Petr Pýcha – include Summer in Lapland, Strange Love and Salzbourg Goulash). Blood Moon, which was commissioned by the Dramatical Company of the Brno National Theater, will be directed by Thomas Zielinski, a regular guest director at Reduta.  Music and songs have been composed by Jiří Hradil (TataBojs, Umakart, Hrubá hudba, etc.).
