Petr Levíček
Tenor, Petr Levíček, was a member of the chorus of the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre Brno between 1987 and 2004 and became a soloist in the 2004/2005 season. He gained his vocal foundations from the singer V. Přibyl and later at the Brno Conservatory with Professor Josef Klán. Levíček was a member of the Brno Madrigalists led by Professor Josef Pančík and of the Madrigal Quintet led by the conductor Roman Válek. Under the instruction of Dr Pavel Kamas, a soloist of the Janáček Opera and pedagogue at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU), he has performed numerous roles from the Czech and international repertoire such as Kudriash (Katya Kabanova), Števa (Jenufa), Junoš (The Brandenburgers in Bohemia), Anatole Kuragin (War and Peace), Ottokar (The Gypsy Baron), Lyonel (Martha), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Beppe (Pagliacci), Holy Fool and Misail (Boris Godunov), Mozart (Mozart and Salieri), Kokhkaryov (The Marriage), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Sempronio (Lo speziale), Pong (Turandot), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Teapot (The Child and Magic), First Jew (Salome), Monostatos (The Magic Flute) and Gastone (La traviata).
He was a guest in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in Český Krumlov and at the Moravian Theatre Olomouc and has participated in several international tours of Europe and Japan with the Janáček Opera. He is a regular guest artist as a concert singer at the Smetana Litomyšl International Opera Festival and the St. Wenceslas Music Festival in Ostrava. In September 2009 he was given the honour to perform Janacek’s Ave Maria and C. Franck’s Panis Angelicus during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in Brno.
