Opera Here I am, Orlando, which had its world premiere on June 14, 2024, received a nomination for the prestigious International Opera Awards in the “World Premiere” category.
Composer Ľubica Čekovská composed the opera commissioned by Janáček’s opera, the libretto was written by Viktorie Knotková based on the cult novella Orlando by Virginia Woolf. Under the direction of Jiří Heřman under the baton of Robert Kružík, excellent soloists Maayan Licht, Markéta Cukrová, Richard Šveda, David Nykl, Daniela Straková Šedrlová, Richard Šveda, Tadeáš Hoza, Ondřej Koplík, Vít Nosek, Josef Škarka, Lukáš Bařák, Jana Hrochová, Monika Jägerová performed. The extraordinary actress Magdaléna Vášáryová also returned to the stage after the break, who performed the role of Elizabeth I.
The winners will be announced on 2 October 2024 at an announcement ceremony at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
