The Mosque
An incorrect comedy about a clash with idiocy
An offer from a foreign investor to sponsor a small South-Moravian village in exchange for a building permit to construct a mosque stirs up a tempestuous controversy among the local inhabitants. When the hitherto cultivated citizens hear of some additional conditions being at play, the sluice-gate of their indignation opens and they start outdoing each other in total exorbitance. There is no doubt – the events ongoing in this picturesque village can’t but affirm the scientific theory suggesting that all refinement of the modern man is just a thin rind enveloping a Neanderthal heart. Given the commonly accepted imperative of correctness, it might be better to avoid showing certain things on stage. Or maybe not, who knows. As one of the authors rightly said: “The satirical bimonthly Česká soda would no longer be acceptable today.” So let us see whether The Mosque can still be!
